There is always an air of excitement both for the architect and the buyer of the proposed building. The architect, for his part is full of ideas with design, get up and general layout of the building. The buyer on the other hand after approving the design, likes to know the costing. These days, besides giving a digital output of the building plan and design, a bill of material can be generated at a touch of a button and we are geared to do so for our customers viz architects, builder and contractors.
Typical procedures for a building involve architects producing blueprints and clients marking up proposed changes that require documents to be redone. Final blueprints are handed off to the contractor, who makes more changes on his own before handing the building owner a set of drawings that may have little to do with the finished structure.
Mistakes typically account for 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of a building project. Errors typically result from design mistakes and unclear design documentation. Using the right tools can dramatically reduce both. The great irony of CAD today is that if you talk to 100 of the top architectural firms, you'll find 100 different CAD standards. Everybody has its own set of standards they've created for representing and organizing design data.
Therefore instead of producing design documents that consist only of lines and shapes we at Indsys started using Building Information Modeling (BIM) to produce 3D models in which each element is packed with data. With parametric modeling, the elements of that design represent real-world elements and the objects know there are certain rules they must follow. For instance in REVIT if you change the location of the door then the door header, the frame and the door opening would automatically move along with the door. These drawings however would be redundant to the buyer and contractor if it were not supplemented with a Bill of Material (BOM) report. Detailed schedules of rooms, walls, and doors provide a very accurate construction related costs to the building stakeholders.

REVIT also promises to dramatically improve the way information gets handed from one stage of the building process to the next. BIM promises to help by centralizing the building process on a digital document that is revised throughout the design and construction phases, giving the architect, contractor and building owner a thorough representation of the new property.
